Message From The CEO
Let me begin by saying thank you for the outpouring of support I have felt since coming to ACTS one year ago. Starting a new job is always stressful. Moving states to do so is doubly so, as many of my neighbors in the military know so well. This community has made it so much easier than I ever expected.
As spring arrives and the weather warms, the wind of change is upon ACTS in the best possible way. I am very fortunate to have such a committed and diverse staff that is able to share their wonderful and creative ideas to make us all grow and make a greater impact on Prince William County. Visit our thrift store or stop by the administrative offices, and you’ll see what I mean. You will be greeted with a genuine smile.
ACTS as an organization is really comprised of people from many different cultures, ages, and backgrounds, and each of them represents the values and traditions of the people that live in and around this vibrant area. Each person here also brings years of experience working with different people in many situations. My experience and background has just added one more element to the rich culture of ACTS.
At ACTS, the staff tries to make this community, a very small section of the world, a better place to live in. Every person here is vital for ACTS to continue the work that it does. The people that we strive to help all come from varying backgrounds, and so do we. Coming from New Jersey seems pretty local, when I work with people from Washington state, Maine, Kenya, and El Salvador. At the end of the day, although I might be sitting in a staff meeting next to someone who comes from a world away, I can be assured we have something in common. We’re in the business of helping people, and there isn’t a singular trait that’s more important for someone who works at ACTS.
I think that after a year, I can safely say I am no longer “The New Guy” at ACTS. I am just one of the guys and gals who make up this amazing team of staff and volunteers. We love what we do and appreciate that you are here as much for us as we are for you. Together, we make a pretty great community.
