ACTS Opens A New Satellite Office in Manassas

We are very pleased to announce that on October 25th, a much-awaited for ribbon cutting ceremony was held to celebrate the opening of our new satellite office in Manassas! This historical moment for ACTS comes thanks in part to the Sexual Assault Domestic Violence Grant Program run though the Department of Criminal Justices Services, as well as through your ongoing support. Our newest office will be the location of four new positions that will further the programs we currently have on the eastern side of Prince William, and will help us to expand our mission to more of those in need in the western part of the county. Most of the positions that will be housed at the new Manassas site will be part of our Crisis and Trauma Services Division, although we will have a representative from our Housing Department there as well. These new positions are:

  • A housing case manager who be meeting with clients to go over housing needs and budgeting and will also work with SSI / SSDI Outreach Access and Recovery (SOAR) to expedite cases for the homeless and disabled to receive disability and social security benefits.
  • Two community educators in the fields of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault who will inform the public about the statistics in their fields and the services we provide to the victims it affects.
  • A Counselor in Residence who will handle Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault cases involving children.

Among the dignitaries, staff, and volunteers of ACTS that were invited, representatives from political offices, chambers of commerce, neighborhood businesses, allied professionals were all in attendance, totaling around 100 people. The atmosphere for the event was absolutely unbelievable and a huge amount of support was directed our way during it. We have received nothing but acceptance from the city of Manassas, and we are honored to be able to have our offices there.

This grand opening event could not have come at a better time, as October is National Domestic Violence Awareness month, and our Domestic Violence Department has been busy for the entirety of it, from holding open houses for the program to sponsoring a brown bag lunch to showcase our Behavioral Intervention Program. We are so looking forward to creating a positive impact for the citizens of Manassas, and thanks to your support, we now have the ability to respond to victims throughout all of Prince William County.
